About Us

Founded in 1985, JSA Architects was born from a vision to serve the evolving needs of the Permian Basin and the surrounding region. In the wake of the early 1980s oil bust, local institutions such as Ector County Independent School District, the City of Odessa, and Ector County turned to JSA to address their facilities and long-term planning. In those early years, JSA also expanded its reach with projects in religious and healthcare design, laying the groundwork for a diverse portfolio.

As the community grew, so did JSA. Building on a reputation for responsiveness and creativity, the firm became Odessa’s longest-standing generalist architecture practice—one that continues to thrive. Today, JSA serves clients across West Texas, the South Plains, the Panhandle, the Hill Country, and Greater Houston.

Beyond the Blueprint

Designing for communities for four decades.

Where we started.

Together, this team carries forward JSA’s founding vision: delivering innovative, community-focused design solutions that stand the test of time.

JSA’s leadership team brings more than 70 years of combined design and architectural expertise. President Cruz Castillo, III, AIA, and Vice President Jay Bradford, AIA, lead the firm as senior principals, supported by partners who co-lead and manage clients across Texas:

  • Richard Schwope, AIA – West Texas clients
  • Michael Zimmerman, AIA – South Plains and Panhandle clients
  • Michael Seefeldt – Business Manager for the Hill Country office
  • Josh Seefeldt, AIA – The Greater Houston area

It has been a privilege for the JSA team to work hand-in-hand on a design that reflects the Harmony Home Children's Advocacy Center mission and the compassion behind their work. This new facility will be a safe, welcoming place of hope and healing for children and families in our community. Together, we are building a future rooted in safety, dignity, and hope.
